USA is in OBAMANATION

Well, I was fairly pessimistic towards Barack Obama all the way through because everyone else loves him.

Of course, out of him and McCain, he would be my preference because I would never vote right wing.

Anyway, I'm feeling more positive towards him now that I have found out from a HP-obsessive mate of mine an important fact.
Wait for it...

He has read all the Harry Potter books.

So he must be deserving of his Presidential status.

Leave Ole Russ & Wossy alone!

So I am pleasantly surprised when I see on my iTunes that this week Russell's podcast is co-hosted by Jonathan Ross because, although Ross is an egotistical twat really, him and Russ are usually quite funny together.
During the show, Russell calls Manuel to interview him, sorry Andrew Sachs, who doesn't pick up and they leave an answerphone message in which Jonathan, erm lets slip, that Russell has had sex with Sachs' granddaughter from the Satanic Sluts (who Russell talked about in last week's podcast with David Beddiel).
Then they made a few answerphone messages after, to apologize...
What can you expect from two immature men who often act like cheeky children? You can expect a right laugh.

Georgina, Andrew Sachs' granddaughter, has spoken and said "I DID sleep with Brand but he and Ross should still be sacked". Hmm. Read this for more.

Everyone has felt the need to talk about this to the press, including our lovely PM Gordon Brown and Piers Morgan (who described the incident as a "cruel stunt"... i think cruelty looks more like this, no?).
Isn't Brown supposed to be like running the country or something?

I really don't see the big deal it's just an old guy who has no sense of humour. So they received a few complaints... 18,000 to be more exact... just because a lot of people say the same thing it doesn't mean they're all right.
So Russell and Jonathan have been suspended from the Beeb.
Come on guys, don't be so pathetic! The media have totally blown it out of proportion and it really shouldn't result in there being front cover stories about this phone call.

NEW:
Russell Brand has resigned over the "prank calls".
Shit. Now he's quit the BBC, no more Russell Brand Show (no more Matt Morgan!). What am I going to listen to now? No other podcast can be compared to the RBS. I guess music will have to do.
Jonathan Ross Show should be recorded today but hasn't been because of his suspension so no Wossy this week.
RIDICULOUS.
Andrew Sachs is a bloody killjoy that's all I can say for him.

Ghost Town

Gervais stars in this romcom, which is more com than rom as it's hilarious. Ghost Town is about a lonely dentist (Ricky Gervais) who's a misanthropist. When he has an operation which results in a near-death experience, he starts seeing ghosts and meets Frank (Greg Kinnear). I have loved Greg Kinnear ever since I saw As Good As It Gets years ago, one of my favourite films.

For some reason, this received average reviews... I don't know why.
I am, admittedly, a big Ricky Gervais fan (The Office, Extras, The Ricky Gervais Show..etc) but I think anyone with a good sense of humour will like it.
The humour is oh so Ricky and you can really see he ad-libbed his way through the film, he blows everyone off the screen.

The Dark Knight

I think this is the best film I've seen this year.
Even though the film isn't that good.
Let me explain:
If you watched the film and cut out every Joker scene, apart from the fact it wouldn't make much sense, it would be the worst film I've seen this year.
Heath Ledger saved the film from being a very boring unfunny film by being the most gorgeous funny sexy SCARY (some people say, I didn't find him scary at all but I don't fear death so there you go) Joker any Batman film has ever had.
I absolutely love Heath Ledger, and I did before The Dark Knight, but I love him even more now.
When I read in the newspaper in January that he died I was on the tube with a mate and I just started crying; it was so heart breaking. If you don't know, he died from an accidental drug overdose (prescription drugs).
It's really a shame we've lost such an amazing actor.
The contrast of his two roles in Brokeback Mountain and in The Dark Knight really show what an actor he is.

I don't like Christian Bale as an actor, especially after his rubbish performance in The Prestige.

Louise Brooks

I had my hair cut recently in a bob and I'm going to dye it black soon. Quite a few people have just looked at me and gone "Hmm.. Louise Brooks" so I thought I'd do a post on her.

Louise Brooks was an American silent film actress, dancer, showgirl, model and writer.

Russell Brand & New Girlfriend

Yup, the beautiful charming witty sex god has a new girlfriend.
Some people just really fucking luck out don't they?
I deserve to go out with him more than she does.
Has she spent hours, days, listening to podcasts, looking up facts, quotes, interviews and films with her bf in? I don't think so.
Still, resentment and jealousy aside, they look happy together. Never heard of her before but she is stunning.

According to Tinternet, she's an Australian actress and she is co-starring in December Boys with Daniel Radcliffe, with whom she has a sex scene...

The History Boys

I love this film, it is also one of my many favourites.
The story and acting is brilliant.
The film is about this boys' school in Sheffield and these boys (who are all wicked characters) are studying for their entrance exam for Oxbridge. The headmaster gets in a tutor, Irwin, to help them but they are not used to his teaching because their two other teachers are very laid-back in comparison. They grow to like him.
My grandparents review was: "It's too gay". But my gma reads The Daily Mail so...

The cast:
The General Studies teacher: Hector (played by Richard Griffiths, who I love and adore)
The headmaster: (played by Clive Merrison)
The tutor: Irwin (played by Stephen Campbell Moore, who I also love and adore and is so sexy even though he is a right nerdy twit in it. He was in Ashes To Ashes too)
The History teacher: Mrs Lintott (played by Frances De La Tour, who is also Hagrid's date in the HP films)
The boys are:
Dakin, my favourite who is really sexy also (Dominic Cooper, who is now in Mamma Mia!)
Posner, who is so sweet (Samuel Barnett)
Timms (James Corden)
Rudge (Russell Tovey, who was in an episode of Doctor Who and Ashes To Ashes)
Akthar (Sacha Dhawan)
Crowther (Samuel Anderson)
Lockwood (Andrew Knott)
Scripps (Jamie Parker)

My favourite quotes:
* - Posner: I'm a Jew, I'm small, I'm homosexual, and I live in Sheffield. I'm fucked.
* - Rudge: How do I define history? Well it's just one fucking thing after another.
* - Headmaster: We're low in the league. I want to see us up there with Manchester Grammar, Haberdasher Askes, Leighton Park... or is that an open prison?
* [Dakin is annoyed because he thinks Irwin doesn't like him]
   - Posner: But he doesn't understand, Irwin DOES like him. He seldom looks at anyone else.
   - Scripps: How do you know?
   - Posner: Because nor do I. Our eyes meet looking at Dakin.
* - Dakin: What happened with Hector? On the bike?
   - Scripps: As per. Except I managed to get my bag down. I think he thought he'd got me going. In fact it was my Tudor Economic Documents, Volume 2.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape

I just watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape which I have on Doovde and I've just managed to stop crying. It's one of my favourite films (then again, my list of my favourite films really is quite long) and I love the ending.
Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio (who are actually my two favourite actors) star in it and Juliette Lewis, Mary Steenburgen, Darlene Cates, Laura Harrington, Mary Kate Schellhardt and John C Reilly are some of the other actors.
The linked pictures are what they look like now, and most of them have considerably changed. The film was released in 1993.
Johnny, who I have met (oh yes be jealous), is my grandparents' neighbour near St Tropez, in the south of France, lives with his wife, Vanessa Paradis, (she really doesn't know how lucky she is... plus in real life she looks like a coke addict she's so gaunt-looking, woops that just slipped out) and his two kids.
This was Leo's fourth film and he got his first Academy Award nomination for this and well obviously now he is enormously famous.
Also, I observed that he worked with John C Reilly again in The Aviator. I love noticing things like that, I guess I'm a big fan of common knowledge... or just knowledge in general.
I googled Juliette Lewis and she is now a rocker! I think she's changed alot, here's a pic of her rocking out and here's one of her in Gilbert Grape (she is obviously on the right). She looks like a cool person, I'd like to meet her.
I think the movie is well worth buying on Doovde (you have to watch Fone Hijacker if you don't get this) because the acting is wicked and the story is well good. Blud.

The Mighty Boosh

I know there must be so many posts about the Boosh on these blogs, I have read alot of them, but I just have to join in and do one to because I do think I am definitely one of the most obsessed in the world.

A conversation cannot be had with me without a Mighty Boosh quote or reference. I can't help myself, Vince Noir (Noel Fielding) and Howard Moon (Julian Barratt) constitute a very large part of my brain activity.

Now, I really dislike it when people mix up the characters' personalities with Noel and Julian's personalities 'cos they are different. So I'll start with the characters.

Vince, is just pure amazing. He's very stylish (in a totally unique and strange way), loves his hair, electro music, fashion and parties. Here's a convo from the episode 'Charlie':
Vince: I like thick girls. Girls who like bright colours, dancing, soft fabrics.
Howard: Don't you want an equal?
Vince: Yeah!
(By the way as soon as you can do that, remember conversations and long quotes, you're a Mighty Boosh fan).

Howard, is also pure amazing but gets slightly less attention from fangirls, probably mostly to do with a few facts: he loves Jazz (or Jazz-Fusion or Jazz-Funk), has tiny eyes, never gets any female attention in the series (apart from Precious Lillywhite, a coconut doll he made in episode 'Nightmare of Milky Joe'), is very pretentious but never gets anywhere and hates criticism and, very unlike Vince, doesn't believe in accessories.

In one interview, I remember Noel saying that someone else said (I can't remember who or the exact quote, my memory is actually quite immensely shit), that Noel was more intelligent than Vince and Julian less intelligent than Howard. Which is probably true, imo.

If you want to check out their earlier work, watch (Un)Natural Acts.

Alice Glass

Alice Glass is my most recent obsession. She is my idol.
I'm always wondering what she's like... There are no video interviews, that I can find, of her or Crystal Castles. According to Edgar Smith, from Time Out who interviewed them, said she is "the sociable half [of Crystal Castles]". I have an interview with NME but it's not on camera, it just appeared in the magazine: that's how I discovered them. I know she smokes, gets annoyed easily, hates action comics and computer games and wants their music to make you vomit.
I think she has a wicked attitude and we would get on well.
I've liked Crystal Castles for about 6 months but I had never seen them live until I saw them at Glastonbury at the John Peel stage, and shit they were amazing.
Alice, now a fashion icon, rebelled from the first song to their last, which was not long after because they stopped playing after about 6 songs. They did their best ones though, like their most famous I think, Alice Practise (which is, according to them, a recording of alice practising which they put on their myspace page and became a song, although some, like NME, say it's too perfect). Alice climbed, stood on the drumkit and even walked through the press to touch the crowd (and that was just the first song).
I thought they were great. Confused when Alice just walked off and stopped, I asked Security why Crystal Castles had stopped playing and he said she just wandered off. Later I heard they were kicked off stage...

According to my mates, I look like Alice. I would like to think I do. Her style is pretty unique: black bob, pencil skirts, converses, couloured tights, black eye make-up, Star Wars and Minnie Mouse tees and cardigans. You can see I spend alot of time thinking about it.

Also, check out the clip of Crystal Castles on an episode of Skins (two of my most favourite things in the world, you can imagine my face when I saw it) which is here.

TEENAGE KICKS

This is my first ever blog.

I'm fourteen and half English, half French but don't judge: I consider myself to be English.
I am extremely obsessive although I get distracted easily and I don't have much patience.

I love, as categories: music, films, reading, style and beauty, youtubing (tv programmes mostly or stand-up), pictures, make-up, glitter, comedy, festivals, gigs, eating, reciting quotes, atoms, philosophy, physics, dressing up, drumming, spelling tests, having a laugh, having a cry/sob...

I dislike: religion, bad music taste, un-funny american comedy films (or "movies"), animal cruelty, war, americanization, bad breath, stereotyping, people in power who shouldn't be, hierarchy, mentality of some school teachers... Tall people sort of annoy me aswell.

This blog is going to be about my obsessions and thoughts... Read if you're interested.
